VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
RECOGNIZING THE EXTRAORDINARY FEAT OF THE "CAVALIER" SOCCER TEAM OF CHRIST CHURCH EPISCOPAL SCHOOL OF GREENVILLE IN GARNERING ITS FOURTH CONSECUTIVE STATE CLASS A CHAMPIONSHIP BEHIND THE CONSISTENTLY SUPERB PLAY OF ITS SENIORS.
Whereas, three seniors on the Christ Church Episcopal School Soccer Team each scored a goal for the "Cavaliers" to take the school's fourth consecutive Class A soccer title; and
Whereas, the team's five seniors stepped in to fill the gap for the nine seniors lost from Coach David Wilcox's championship team of last year and led the "Cavaliers" to an unblemished season in their class; and
Whereas, the determined players gave up only one goal during the state playoffs, thanks to the excellent defense of senior Clark Brandt; and
Whereas, seniors Artie Howson and Matt Theisen both had goals for the win, with the third goal coming from Jake Hendrickson, whose play set a school record with 21 assists, seven of them for wins; and
Whereas, underclassman Fletcher McCraw had two assists himself in the title game and joins seniors Hendrickson and Tomek Charowski on the All-State Soccer Team; and
Whereas, the perfect senior season story ends with senior Charowski sitting out the championship match with a stress fracture, but still leading the team in goals for the fourth straight year and being chosen as both a Scholar All-American and Youth All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and to play in the McDonald's All-American game. Charowski has signed to play soccer with Duke University. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize the extraordinary feat of the "Cavalier" Soccer Team of Christ Church Episcopal School of Greenville in garnering its fourth consecutive State Class A Championship behind the consistently superb play of its seniors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the "Cavalier" Soccer Team of Christ Church Episcopal School and Coach David Wilcox.
