A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND RHONDA CRADLE OF HARDEEVILLE FOR HER OUTSTANDING ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND HER SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES TO HER IN ALL OF HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, born in Ridgeland in 1956, Rhonda Cradle was raised in New York City but returned to Jasper County, graduating from West Hardeeville High School in 1974; and

Whereas, although she returned to New York to pursue business and secretarial studies, Ms. Cradle again returned to Hardeeville in 1980, to work for the Hardeeville Police Department; and

Whereas, promoted to Sergeant of Communications in April 1981, Ms. Cradle was the first to hold this position in the Hardeeville Police Department and was later promoted to Lieutenant under Chief Fialkowski and Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Police; and

Whereas, attending the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, Ms. Cradle graduated from the Academy's Police Communications, Jail and Prison Operations courses and received a certificate in Officer Survival from Beaufort Technical College; and

Whereas, in 1996, Ms. Cradle received the Officer of the Year Award and she has received a Certificate of Appreciation from Lieutenant Colonel D.K. Shockey, United States Marine Corps; and

Whereas, Ms. Cradle has two daughters, Elaine, twenty-nine, who resides in New York City, and CaRee, eighteen, who resides in Hardeeville; and

Whereas, in addition to being an active member of Fisher Chapel United Methodist Church, Ms. Cradle is also Chairperson of the Race and Religion Relations Committee. She has served on the Relay for Life Cancer team for over three years representing the Hardeeville Police Department and is currently the Secretary of the Hardeeville Precinct I Democratic Party; and

Whereas, a member of Representative Joe Wilson's Low Country Minority Committee, Ms. Cradle meets quarterly with the committee to address local concerns such as health, education, and better quality of life for residents; and

Whereas, as an organization leader for the donations and sponsorships for the Hardeeville Police Department for the past four years, Ms. Cradle has organized the Christmas Toy Drive, which gives three to four toys to each child, brightening the lives of between 250 and 280 local children, and she tries to obtain gifts for local Hardeeville senior citizens as well; and

Whereas, in April, 2004, Ms. Cradle became a Board Member of Jasper County Neighbors United, a state certified, nonprofit community development organization that teaches first-time homebuyers how to budget and purchase homes, particularly low to moderate income individuals; and

Whereas, the Palmetto State is proud to have an active and concerned citizen such as Rhonda Cradle, and she has proven that her motivation in life has been to help as many people as possible using the numerous talents that God has blessed her with, making lives easier, one day at a time. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and commend Rhonda Cradle of Hardeeville for her outstanding accomplishments and her service to the community and extend best wishes to her in all of her future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Rhonda Cradle of Hardeeville.
