A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE DR. RAYMOND F. LALA, OF THE UNITED STATES PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE AND THE STATE DENTAL COORDINATOR FOR THE SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL, UPON HIS REASSIGNMENT TO THE HEALTH RESOURCES AND SERVICES ADMINISTRATION IN ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND, AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES TO HIM IN ALL OF HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, as a commissioned officer in the United States Public Health Services, Dr. Raymond F. Lala has been assigned to the Department of Health and Environmental Control, and in this position he played an integral role in developing dental programs within South Carolina and advancing both state and local resources to include dental care for all citizens within the Palmetto State; and

Whereas, during his short time here in South Carolina, Dr. Lala has served as the State Dental Coordinator and the Director of the Division of Oral Health in the Bureau of Maternal and Child Health for the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control; and

Whereas, while serving in South Carolina, Dr. Lala established the South Carolina Oral Health Advisory Council and the South Carolina Oral Health Coalition, and he designed and implemented a State Oral Health Plan; and

Whereas, completing a statewide oral health needs assessment for children in the Palmetto State, Dr. Lala also focused attention on oral health needs, mobilized state and community resources, and developed partnerships with key stakeholders; and

Whereas, in addition to his contributions to the State of South Carolina, Dr. Lala has provided outstanding leadership and support to the Aiken County First Smiles Initiative, and his efforts will continue long after he has left the State; and

Whereas, Dr. Raymond F. Lala is an experienced and caring advocate for oral health in the United States, and the Palmetto State is grateful for his outstanding contributions to the citizens of this State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate Dr. Raymond F. Lala, of the United States Public Health Service and the State Dental Coordinator for the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, upon his reassignment to the Health Resources and Services Administration in Rockville, Maryland, and extend best wishes to him in all of his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Raymond F. Lala.
