A BILL

TO AMEND ACT 192 OF 1995, RELATING TO THE CREATION OF THE REGISTRATION AND ELECTIONS COMMISSION FOR YORK COUNTY, SO AS TO INCREASE THE COMMISSION FROM SEVEN TO EIGHT AND TO PROVIDE FOR THE APPOINTMENT AND ELECTION OF THE CHAIRMAN.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 1(A) of Act 192 of 1995 is amended to read:

"(A)    There is created the Registration and Elections Commission for York County which must be funded as provided by law. There are seven eight members of the commission who must be appointed by the Governor. Seven members must be appointed upon recommendation of each member of the House of Representatives on the York County Legislative Delegation., The and one member must be appointed by the Governor and recommended to him and elected as chairman of the commission must be elected from those appointed by the Governor by a majority vote of the Senators representing York County. The members must be appointed for terms of two years and until their successors are appointed and qualify."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
