A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 7-13-350, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO CERTIFIED CANDIDATES NOMINATED BY PETITION, PRIMARY, OR CONVENTION, SO AS TO PROHIBIT A CANDIDATE FROM BEING NOMINATED BY MORE THAN ONE POLITICAL PARTY AND TO REQUIRE THE AUTHORITY CHARGED BY LAW WITH PRINTING THE BALLOT TO PRINT THE NAME OF THE CANDIDATE WITH THE ONE PARTY WHICH NOMINATED HIM.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 7-13-350 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 392 of 2002, is further amended by adding:

"(C)(1)        A candidate may not be nominated by more than one party.

(2)    The authority charged by law with printing the ballot shall print the name of a candidate with the one political party which nominates him and may not print his name as nominated by more than one party."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
