A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 56-3-1360, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE UNLAWFUL USE AND POSSESSION OF A LICENSE PLATE, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE PENALTY FOR VIOLATION OF THIS PROVISION IS IMPRISONMENT FOR NOT MORE THAN FIVE YEARS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 56-3-1360 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 56-3-1360.    (A)    No A person shall not drive or operate any a motor vehicle, trailer, semitrailer or pole trailer on a highway displaying thereon on it a vehicle license plate which was issued for any other another vehicle, and.

(B)    no A person shall not give, sell, lend, steal or borrow any a vehicle license plate issued for a particular vehicle for the purpose of using such the license plate on any other another vehicle.

(C)    A person who violates a provision contained in this section is guilty of a felony and, upon conviction, must be imprisoned not more than five years."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
