A JOINT RESOLUTION

TO AUTHORIZE THE STATE BUDGET AND CONTROL BOARD, EFFECTIVE APRIL 1, 2003, TO TRANSFER OWNERSHIP OF A SURPLUS NATIONAL GUARD ARMORY IN BEAUFORT, SOUTH CAROLINA, TO THE CITY OF BEAUFORT.

Whereas, the National Guard Armory located at 1500 Rogers Street, Beaufort, South Carolina, is currently vacant; and

Whereas, the State Military Department has declared this property surplus to its current needs; and

Whereas, a replacement site is neither an issue nor necessary because the military department is unable to forecast a need for such a site. Now, therefore,

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 25-1-1660 of the 1976 Code, the State Budget and Control Board, effective April 1, 2003, is authorized to transfer ownership of a surplus National Guard Armory located at 1500 Rogers Street, Beaufort, South Carolina, to the City of Beaufort.

SECTION    2.    This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
