A BILL

TO AMEND ACT 469 OF 2000, RELATING TO SCHOOL DISTRICT 1 OF YORK COUNTY, SO AS TO REVISE THE DATE ON WHICH ELECTED MEMBERS OF THE BOARD SHALL TAKE OFFICE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 1(B)(4) of Act 469 of 2000 is amended to read:

"(4)    The balloting shall take place at the general election precincts located in the school district and conducted according to the laws and regulations governing elections, mutatis mutandis. In each election, those candidates receiving the most votes are declared elected and no run-off is required. All newly-elected members of the board shall take office on December first following their election as provided in Section 59-19-315 of the 1976 Code."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
