A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND THE APPRECIATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE INDIVIDUALS WHO MAINTAINED THE NATIONAL GUARD ARMORY IN ST. GEORGE, SOUTH CAROLINA, OVER THE PAST YEARS AND WHO WERE ESSENTIAL IN ENSURING THE SUCCESSFUL TRANSFER OF THE ARMORY TO THE CITY OF ST. GEORGE.

Whereas, soldiers from across the United States serve in the military and National Guard in order to ensure that every American enjoys the freedom that this country promises to uphold; and

Whereas, all United States citizens are indebted to these courageous men and women who are willing to risk their lives to protect this nation; and

Whereas, it is appropriate to recognize those people who have helped to make this land a safer place to live and work; and

Whereas, over the years, dedicated and patriotic individuals have devoted their time to maintaining the National Guard Armory in St. George, South Carolina, and have served this country and State well in their work with the National Guard; and

Whereas, these invaluable men are Retired BG Charles W. Ackreman, Retired MSG Wade S. Ammons, Jr., Retired SGM Herbert J. Hughes, Jr., Retired MSG Hansford H. Reeves, Retired MSG Thomas Shuman, Retired CSM George W. Thomas, and Retired SSG Thomas R. Felder; and

Whereas, these soldiers not only aided in the upkeep of the Armory, but they were also vital in successfully conveying the building to the City of St. George; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly would like to thank these men for their commitment to protecting the United States of America and the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly extend their appreciation to those individuals named in this resolution who maintained the National Guard Armory in St. George, South Carolina, over the past years and who were essential in ensuring the successful transfer of the Armory to the City of St. George.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Retired BG Charles W. Ackreman, Retired MSG Wade S. Ammons, Jr., Retired SGM Herbert J. Hughes, Jr., Retired MSG Hansford H. Reeves, Retired MSG Thomas Shuman, Retired CSM George W. Thomas, and Retired SSG Thomas R. Felder, all of St. George.
