TO CONGRATULATE THE DREHER HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM ON WINNING THE 2003 CLASS AAA STATE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP, TO COMMEND THE LADY BLUE DEVILS FOR THE HARD WORK, COMPETITIVE SPIRIT, AND TEAMWORK IT TOOK TO BECOME A CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM, AND TO WISH THEM EVERY SUCCESS IN THEIR ACADEMIC AND ATHLETIC CAREERS AND IN ALL OF THEIR FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, the Dreher Girls Basketball Team defeated York 64-58 on Saturday, March 8, 2003, at the Carolina Center to win the Class AAA State Championship; and
Whereas, the long practices and grueling drills the Blue Devils endured resulted in an outstanding record of twenty-eight wins and only two losses in their championship season; and
Whereas; the 2003 Dreher High School Girls Basketball team was ably trained and led by Coach Teresa Jones, who instilled the competitive spirit and teamwork it took for the Blue Devils to become state champions in their class; and
Whereas, members of the Dreher High School Girls Basketball Championship Team include Ashley Morris, Ashley Harris, Audrey Castor, Courtney Lemon, Shekeyla Lemon, Shaunta Cleveland, Lucia Derks, Vanessa Green, Leslie Gadson, Tiffany Sumpter, LaKesha Tolliver, Ashley Goodwin, Keturah Jackson, and Kierstyn Wallace; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are proud of the spirit and accomplishments of the 2003 Dreher High School Girls Basketball Team and take this opportunity to congratulate and commend them for their championship performance. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate the Dreher High School Girls Basketball Team on winning the 2003 Class AAA State Basketball Championship, commend the Lady Blue Devils for their hard work, competitive spirit, and teamwork it took to become a state championship team, and wish them every success in their academic and athletic careers and in all of their future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Dreher High School Girls Basketball Team.
