A HOUSE RESOLUTION

APPLAUDING ELLOREE HIGH SCHOOL'S JASMINE EDNEY, A STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE HIGHEST CALIBRE, FOR HER MANY ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE CLASSROOM AND ON THE PLAYING FIELD AND ENCOURAGING HER TO CONTINUE TO SET HER SIGHTS HIGH.

Whereas, Jasmine Edney of Orangeburg County is a student-athlete senior standout, as recognized by WLTX News 19; and

Whereas, the "Player of the Week" honor could easily be awarded to this stellar performer each week of the school year, as she captains the Lady Warriors' basketball, volleyball, and track teams while maintaining a 4.28 grade point average and the number one academic slot in her class; and

Whereas, Jasmine has earned MVP, All-State, and Player of the Year honors for her sports successes, including leading the Lady Warriors' volleyball squad to the lower state finals and finishing second in the State in the 400-meter and fourth in the State in the long jump; and

Whereas, her leadership qualities are further tested as the Battalion Commander of the Elloree JROTC, and she leads both the Beta Club and the Student Council as President; and

Whereas, this All-American Scholar also serves in the peer mentor and tutor program at Elloree High School, inspiring other students to succeed; and

Whereas, Jasmine Edney personifies for the State of South Carolina the heights to which our young citizens can aspire and the lengths to which they will go in response to encouragement by their family, schools, communities, and this State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, applaud Elloree High School's Jasmine Edney, a student-athlete of the highest calibre, for her many achievements in the classroom and on the playing field and encourage her to continue to set her sights high.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Jasmine Edney.
