A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND AMANDA HELEN PENNEKAMP FOR BEING CROWNED MISS SOUTH CAROLINA USA AND TO EXTOL HER FOR HER OUTSTANDING REPRESENTATION OF THE STATE IN THE MISS USA PAGEANT.

Whereas, Amanda Helen Pennekamp was crowned Miss South Carolina USA and went on to represent our State with class and grace in the Miss USA Pageant on Monday, April 12, 2004, where she was named first runner-up; and

Whereas, Amanda was reared in Columbia and graduated from Spring Valley High School and is currently a senior at Newberry College; and

Whereas, majoring in theatre and speech communications, Amanda aspires to become an actress and has already appeared on the big screen in Juwanna Mann and on the television shows King of Queens, Street Smarts, and Grounded for Life; and

Whereas, Amanda has also appeared in numerous magazines and has been the cover model in ads for Old Spice Cologne and Upton's Department Store among others; and

Whereas, as a respected leader on her college campus, Amanda is a Newberry College Student Ambassador and a former vice president of her sorority and a college cheerleader; and

Whereas, it is with great pleasure that the members of the General Assembly honor Amanda Helen Pennekamp for her noteworthy accomplishments and wish her well in her future endeavors as an ambassador of our State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and commend Amanda Helen Pennekamp for being crowned Miss South Carolina USA and extol her for her outstanding representation of the State in the Miss USA Pageant.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Miss South Carolina USA, Amanda Helen Pennekamp.
