TO HONOR AND CONGRATULATE GEORGE R. MOORE, DIRECTOR OF THE HEALTH FACILITY OVERSIGHT PROGRAM, DIVISION OF HEALTH LICENSING, DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL, ON HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE DEPARTMENT ON JULY 1, 2004, AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES TO HIM IN ALL OF HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, serving the public sector is always a challenge and working for the citizens of the Palmetto State as a public official requires a level of dedication and commitment not traditionally seen in the average person; and
Whereas, George R. Moore, earned a Bachelor Degree in Music Education from Florida State University and a Masters Degree in Hospital Administration from Baylor University; and
Whereas, George Moore has devoted his entire career to military and public service with a twenty-six year career in the United States Army, retiring as Lieutenant Colonel, and then with the Department of Health and Environmental Control; and
Whereas, serving as a member of the Division of Health Licensing since 1988, Mr. Moore served on several public health committees during his tenure and is currently serving as Director of the Health Facility Oversight Program; and
Whereas, throughout his tenure as a public employee, George Moore has provided fair and impartial leadership during a period of tremendous economic and population growth within South Carolina as well as during a time of significant budgetary restraints; and
Whereas, he served under three different commissioners, each of whom held him in the highest regard for his diligent work and insights; and
Whereas, from the Department of Health and Environmental Control, this outstanding and talented gentleman has won numerous awards and recognitions including the Bureau of Health Regulation Employee of the Month; and
Whereas, in his duties as Director of the Health Facility Oversight Program he has earned the esteem and appreciation of its many members during his years of service; and
Whereas, George Moore retires from public service with a strong legacy of public health stewardship and with the knowledge that the quality of life for South Carolina's citizens is better because of his dedication to protecting their health and well-being; and
Whereas, his career in community service is equally outstanding, serving in numerous capacities including Deacon of First Baptist Church and Kathwood Baptist Church, a former member of Palmetto Mastersingers, and a former member of the Columbia Choral Society; and
Whereas, George Moore has truly played a vital role in South Carolina during his career of public service, and the contributions he has made as Director of the Health Facility Oversight Program have made the agency one of the most respected in state government; and
Whereas, he is known as a cheerful gentleman of the highest integrity and is always helpful to others, and his numerous contributions to this State he loves so dearly will be realized for many years to come; and
Whereas, the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and thank George R. Moore for his distinguished career of public service to his fellow South Carolinians as he retires from the Department of Health and Environmental Control. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, honor and congratulate George R. Moore, Director of the Health Facility Oversight Program, Department of Health and Environmental Control, upon his retirement from the commission on July 1, 2004, and extend best wishes to him in all of his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to George R. Moore.
