A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE THE CHAPIN HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLASTIC APTITUDE TEST (SAT) TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS ON CAPTURING THE CLASS AA 2004 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP IN THE SIXTH ANNUAL SAT COMPETITION SPONSORED BY THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.

Whereas, gifted and intelligent students from Chapin High School won the Class AA 2004 State Championship in SAT test-taking competition sponsored by the State Department of Education on March 10, 2004; and

Whereas, schools of similar size compete against each other by taking an abbreviated version of the college entrance exam, and the winning schools and individual competitors receive medals; and

Whereas, this marks the sixth year of the rigorous competition and the sixth consecutive year that the Class AA State Title has been taken home by Chapin High School, which has been in the finals each year of the competition; and

Whereas, members of the winning Chapin High School Team were Susie Baker, Julianne Bower, Katlyn Bowling, Jennifer Byrne, Lawrence Craft, Adam Derrick, Amy Dix, Byron Epting, Joe Gillespie, Ian Gohean, Sarah Gregory, Ashley Holme, Brandon Holmes, Hannah Jefferies, Logan Kubik, John Longshore, Anna Meade, Ashlyn Murphy, Caroline Nelson, Kara Rusaw, Drew Sawyer, Jad Taylor, and Casey Washington. These bright students were led by coaches Jack LeGrand, W. F. Sullivan, and Millie See; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are proud to recognize the Chapin High School SAT Team for their outstanding accomplishment. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate the Chapin High School Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) Team, coaches, and school officials on capturing the Class AA 2004 State Championship in the sixth annual SAT competition sponsored by the State Department of Education.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Chapin High School SAT Team.
