TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE WILLIAM TOWNES JONES IV, SOLICITOR OF THE EIGHTH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT UPON HIS RETIREMENT AFTER NINETEEN YEARS OF SERVICE AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES TO HIM IN ALL OF HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, to serve one's community through the practice of law is a commendable achievement that seeks to protect the citizens of the community and promote justice within the legal system; and
Whereas, William Townes Jones IV, has served as Solicitor for the Eighth Judicial Circuit for nineteen years, and his retirement later this year will be a sad event for all those who have had the pleasure of working with him; and
Whereas, born August 25, 1951, in Greenwood, Mr. Jones has been a lifelong resident of Greenwood County and graduated from Greenwood High School before attending Erskine College; and
Whereas, after graduating from the University of South Carolina School of Law, Mr. Jones went on to become a law clerk for Circuit Judge Luke N. Brown and Assistant Solicitor for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit before succeeding his father, William T. Jones III, as Eighth Judicial Circuit Solicitor in 1985; and
Whereas, married to Rosann Wilson, the couple has four daughters, Gilland, Townes Adair, Isabella, and Campbell; and
Whereas, in addition to being the Solicitor for Abbeville, Greenwood, Laurens, and Newberry Counties, Mr. Jones is also the past president of the South Carolina Solicitor's Association, a member of the National District Attorneys' Association, a member of the South Carolina Criminal Law Council, and a member of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers' Association; and
Whereas, a member of the Erskine College Board of Counselors, Mr. Jones is also a member of the Greenwood County Chamber of Commerce and the Main Street Methodist Church, and he is a past member of the Greenwood Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors; and
Whereas, throughout the years, William Townes Jones IV has protected the citizens of Greenwood County as well as those in Abbeville, Laurens, and Newberry Counties, and his presence in the Eighth Judicial Circuit Solicitor's Office will be sorely missed. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend and congratulate William Townes Jones IV, Solicitor of the Eighth Judicial Circuit, upon his retirement after nineteen years of service and extend best wishes to him in all of his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. William Townes Jones IV, of Greenwood County.
