A HOUSE RESOLUTION

RECOGNIZING THE NATIONALLY RANKED 2004 "LADY RAMS" SOFTBALL TEAM OF HILLCREST HIGH SCHOOL ON THEIR THIRD CONSECUTIVE CLASS AAAA STATE TITLE AND APPLAUDING THEIR DOMINANCE OF GIRLS' SOFTBALL OVER THE YEARS.

Whereas, the "Lady Rams" of Hillcrest High School validated their preseason national ranking of No. 4 when they grabbed their third straight Class AAAA State Softball Championship in 2004 by blanking the South Florence Lady Bruins; and

Whereas, the consistently dominant "Lady Rams" have put together an amazing three-year record of 107 wins against only two losses; 96 of those wins are consecutive victories, eclipsing the old state record number of wins by almost 30 and earning the young ladies a third place nationally for consecutive wins; and

Whereas, pitcher Kate Pouliot also holds an all-time national third place slot for her 66 consecutive wins; and

Whereas, Head Coach James Graves and his assistant coaches Butch Clark and Larry Wooten have put together an impressive season, ranked as high as second in the nation during 2004, and a softball dynasty at Hillcrest, giving a host of high school girls the opportunity to be winners and to enjoy the fruits of student athletics; and

Whereas, the 2004 championship team members are: Ciara Glenn, Kellyn Henderson, Kate Pouliot, Rebecca Williams, Ashley Swoap, Sarah Christopher, Carolyn Jackson, Amanda Williams, Jennifer Leithold, Kayla Bennett, Jamie Lancaster, Laura Jeroszko, Megan Toth, Jamie Peoples, Lauren Long, and Erica Simmons. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of the Representatives of the State of South Carolina hereby recognize the nationally ranked 2004 "Lady Rams" Softball Team of Hillcrest High School on their third consecutive Class AAAA state title and applaud their dominance of girls' softball over the years.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the 2004 "Lady Rams" Softball Team of Hillcrest High School and Head Coach James Graves.
