A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 7-7-280, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE DESIGNATION OF VOTING PRECINCTS IN GREENVILLE COUNTY, SO AS TO REVISE AND RENAME CERTAIN VOTING PRECINCTS OF GREENVILLE COUNTY AND REDESIGNATE A MAP NUMBER FOR THE MAP ON WHICH LINES OF THESE PRECINCTS ARE DELINEATED AND MAINTAINED BY THE OFFICE OF RESEARCH AND STATISTICS OF THE STATE BUDGET AND CONTROL BOARD.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 7-7-280 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 271 of 2000, is further amended to read:

"Section 7-7-280.    (A)    In Greenville County there are the following voting precincts and polling places:

(B)    The precinct lines defining the precincts in subsection (A) are as shown on maps filed with the Greenville County Board of Voter Registration and also on file with the State Election Commission as provided and maintained by the Division of Research and Statistical Services of the State Budget and Control Board designated as document P-4592 P-45-03.

(C)    Beginning January 1, 2001, The polling places for the precincts provided in subsection (A) must be established by the Greenville County Board of Voter Registration and the Greenville County Election Commission with the approval of a majority of the members of the Greenville County Legislative Delegation."

SECTION    2.    Upon approval by the Governor, this act takes effect January 1, 2004.
