A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE APPRECIATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO MR. ROBERT LEON "LEE" JOHNSON OF HORRY COUNTY FOR HIS SIXTY YEARS OF DEDICATED GOVERNMENTAL SERVICE IN SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, Mr. Robert Leon "Lee" Johnson began his service in South Carolina government in 1943 with an appointment by Senator Frank Thompson to the Horry County Board of Commissions where Mr. Johnson served a four-year term; and

Whereas, Mr. Johnson continued his service in South Carolina government in 1947 when he was hired as a Deputy under the Honorable Ernest Sasser and served faithfully until his term expired; and

Whereas, Mr. Johnson then served as Constable under the Honorable U.D. Phipps, Magistrate in the Bayboro Community, until 1959; and

Whereas, Mr. Johnson then continued his service in South Carolina government when he was hired as the first Horry County Police Chief where he served with integrity for twenty-five years until his retirement; and

Whereas, Mr. Johnson has received the utmost respect for his work with the youth and in the community by administering advice and guidance, and is well-liked and respected in Horry County; and

Whereas, Mr. Johnson was also elected as a delegate in the Democratic Party and attended the Democratic National Convention in 1960; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are pleased to have the opportunity to recognize Mr. Robert Leon "Lee" Johnson for his distinguished service of sixty years in South Carolina government. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, express their appreciation to Mr. Robert Leon "Lee" Johnson of Horry County for his sixty years of dedicated service in South Carolina government.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Robert Leon "Lee" Johnson.
