A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE TO MR. JASON FULMER OF AIKEN FOR HIS MANY ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN EDUCATION AND, ESPECIALLY, ON BEING NAMED THE 2003 SOUTH CAROLINA TEACHER OF THE YEAR.

Whereas, the education of South Carolina's young people is of utmost importance to the Senate and to the citizens of this State; and

Whereas, it is appropriate to recognize the great achievements of those individuals who have dedicated their lives to improving South Carolina's schools and promoting academic excellence; and

Whereas, Mr. Jason Fulmer of Aiken is a third-grade teacher at Redcliffe Elementary School and has devoted his professional career to educating the children of this State; and

Whereas, Mr. Fulmer is a graduate of Midland Valley High School and the University of South Carolina-Aiken, where he was a member of the Circle K Service Club and remains involved with that organization; and

Whereas, his enthusiasm and innovative teaching methods stimulate the minds of his young charges, making learning fun and exciting; and

Whereas, Mr. Fulmer is a devoted, young educator and has only been teaching for four years, but he is admired and respected by many in the profession and will certainly continue to be an inspiration to his colleagues and his students; and

Whereas, he is the sixth male in South Carolina history and the first male in seventeen years to serve as the South Carolina Teacher of the Year, and during the next year, he will take a sabbatical from the classroom to promote and represent approximately 47,000 teachers from across the State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, extend their congratulations to Mr. Jason Fulmer of Aiken for his many accomplishments in education and, especially, on being named the 2003 South Carolina Teacher of the Year.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Jason Fulmer of Aiken.
