A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE MARY JACQUELYN DAY JOYE OF MOUNT PLEASANT UPON HER RETIREMENT AFTER TWENTY-THREE YEARS OF TEACHING ENGLISH AND LATIN AT THE ASHLEY HALL SCHOOL, TO COMMEND HER FOR HER HARD WORK AND DEDICATION, AND TO WISH HER MUCH SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL OF HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, Mrs. Mary Jacquelyn Day Joye is a graduate of Laurens High School and the University of North Carolina where she excelled in her studies and was a member of the Order of the Valkyrie; and

Whereas, Mrs. Joye taught English and Latin at Ashley Hall School for twenty-three years. While she taught at Ashley Hall, she was the recipient of the Rosemary Nelson Hutto Award for teaching excellence and the students dedicated the school annual to her in 1997; and

Whereas, in addition to teaching at Ashley Hall, Mrs. Joye taught at Richland Technical School, A.C. Flora High School, Moultrie High School, Bellevue Community College in Seattle, Washington, and the College of Charleston; and

Whereas, Mrs. Joye was a Deacon and an Elder in the Presbyterian Church before becoming a member of the St. Andrews Episcopal Church; and

Whereas, she is married to Reese Joye and they have three splendid children: Mark an attorney, Todd a doctor, and Celeste a teacher and a photographer; and

Whereas, in her retirement, Mrs. Joye will be able to spend more time with her four grandchildren and in her garden; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are proud to recognize Mary Jacquelyn Day Joye upon her retirement from teaching and wish her much happiness in her retirement. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the members of the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate Mary Jacquelyn Day Joye upon her retirement after twenty-three years of teaching English and Latin at the Ashley Hall School, commend her for her hard work and dedication, and wish her much success and happiness in all of her future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Mary Jacquelyn Day Joye of Mount Pleasant.
