TO AMEND SECTION 56-5-2770, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO SIGNALS AND MARKINGS ON SCHOOL BUSES, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A SCHOOL BUS ROUTE MUST BE DESIGNED TO ENSURE THAT A STUDENT IS NOT REQUIRED TO CROSS ANY PUBLIC OR PRIVATE ROAD.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. SECTION 1. Section 56-5-2770(F) of the 1976 Code as amended by Act 62 of 2003, is further amended to read:
" (F) A school bus route that requires passengers to be loaded or off-loaded along a multi-lane highway or multi-lane private road must be designed to ensure that a student is not required to cross a multi-lane highway or multi-lane private road any public or private road when entering or departing a school bus."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
