A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO HONOR GREAT FALLS HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL COACH JOHN SMITH FOR HIS OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE LIVES OF COUNTLESS STUDENT ATHLETES, AND TO CONGRATULATE HIM ON HIS EXTRAORDINARY RECORD-BREAKING 744 WINS IN HIS THIRTY-SEVEN YEARS AS A COACH.

Whereas, the General Assembly takes great pride in recognizing those individuals who give their lives to the education and betterment of South Carolina's youth; and

Whereas, Great Falls Basketball Coach John Smith is certainly one such individual, as his tremendous career as a coach and mentor stands as a testament to the good one man can do in the lives of many; and

Whereas, a true mastermind of the game of basketball, Coach Smith possesses a unique way of imparting his knowledge of the game to his players, which invariably translates into amazing success for his team; and

Whereas, during his thirty-seven-year reign as Head Coach of the Great Falls Basketball Team, Coach Smith has taken his players to 6 state championships, 15 trips to the state final game, averaged 20 victories a year for thirty-seven years, and has only had one losing season during his entire career; and

Whereas, the General Assembly commends him for his love and commitment to the game and to his players and is sure that Coach Smith's record is not soon to be broken, and will only grow in the years to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, honor Great Falls High School Basketball Coach John Smith for his outstanding commitment to the lives of countless student athletes, and congratulate him on his extraordinary record-breaking 744 wins in his thirty-seven years as a coach.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach John Smith.
