A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE J. L. MANN HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS TRACK TEAM FOR WINNING THE STATE CLASS AAA CHAMPIONSHIP AND TO WISH EACH MEMBER OF THE TEAM GOOD LUCK IN ALL THEIR FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are pleased to learn that the J. L. Mann High School girls track team has won the State Class AAA Track Championship; and

Whereas, J. L. Mann girls track team won the state track meet held at Spring Valley High School in Columbia on May 5-6, 2006. They beat thirty-three other teams to win this championship, and it marks the second state championship in a row for the J. L. Mann girls; and

Whereas, under the able leadership of coaches Rhett Moss and Lillie Young, the J. L. Mann girls continued their track dominance not only in the Upstate but throughout the State as well; and

Whereas, individual first place winners were Alicia Bennett in the one hundred meter hurdles with a time of 15.73, Kate Borowicz in the sixteen hundred meters with a time of 5:09.92, Brianna Nelson in the four hundred meters with a time of 55.08 seconds, Kate Borowicz in the thirty-two hundred meters with a time of 11:21.82, and Tylia Henley in the long jump of 17 feet 7.75 inches; and

Whereas, the performance and conduct of this talented group of young women in their athletic competitions and in their academic and other school work has brought deserved credit not only upon themselves and their school but upon their community as well; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, are desirous of publicly recognizing and honoring the J. L. Mann girls track team for winning this truly deserved championship. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly recognize and commend the J. L. Mann High School girls track team for winning the State Class AAA Championship and wish each member of the team good luck in all their future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Ms. Susan Hughes, Principal of J. L. Mann High School.
