Whereas, the new Abbeville Area Medical Center will open its doors to the public on August 1, 2006, providing its patients with the most personalized, compassionate care possible; and

Whereas, originally established in 1919, as Abbeville County Memorial Hospital, the hospital has continuously offered expert care with a full range of services; and

Whereas, striving to be the first choice for health care in the community, the new, state-of-the-art facility of the Abbeville Area Medical Center is designed for the way health care is given today and will offer convenient, efficient care; and

Whereas, the hospital and its staff are dedicated to improving the health of the communities they serve; and

Whereas, having quality, close-to-home health care in rural areas is vital to the health of the community, and the new facility will continue the hospital's long tradition of providing excellent, comprehensive care; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are proud to recognize the opening of the Abbeville Area Medical Center as the construction of the new facility further demonstrates the hospital's commitment and dedication to its patients, staff, and medical team. Now, therefore,
