VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 58-35-115 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT IN ALL COUNTIES OF THIS STATE LOCATED IN THE COASTAL ZONE, ALL ELECTRICAL UTILITY AND ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE POWER LINES CONSTRUCTED, INSTALLED, OR MODIFIED AFTER JULY 1, 2006, MUST BE LOCATED UNDERGROUND FOR HEALTH AND SAFETY REASONS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 35, Title 58 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 58-35-115. In all counties of this State located in the coastal zone as defined in Section 48-39-10, all electrical utility and electric cooperative power lines constructed, installed, or modified after July 1, 2006, must be located underground for health and safety reasons."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
