A SENATE RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE SINCERE GRATITUDE AND DEEP APPRECIATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE TO DAVID CUNNINGHAM, CHIEF OF THE BATH FIRE DEPARTMENT, FOR HIS SERVICE TO THE CITY OF BATH AND EXTENDING VERY BEST WISHES AS HE BEGINS HIS NEW ROLE AS WATER/FIRE COMMISSIONER.

Whereas, with mixed emotions, the members of the Senate have learned that David Cunningham, of Aiken County, retired from his position as Chief of the Bath Fire Department on January 1, 2005; and

Whereas, the City of Bath has been blessed over the years with a workforce composed of very able and talented people, and David Cunningham is clearly one of the most capable individuals who has served; and

Whereas, Chief Cunningham diligently served with the City of Bath Fire Department for fifty years, the last thirty as chief; and

Whereas, through his leadership the Department has grown and improved dynamically, implementing procedural and technological changes; and

Whereas, Chief Cunningham has made a significant contribution to the City of Bath Fire Department and will continue to play an active role through his new position as water/fire commissioner; and

Whereas, the members of the Senate are proud to have the opportunity to recognize David Cunningham and his years of dedicated service and countless contributions to the City of Bath, the surrounding community, and the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate hereby express their sincere gratitude and deep appreciation to David Cunningham, Chief of the Bath Fire Department, for his exemplary service for fifty years to the City of Bath and extend best wishes as he begins his new role as water/fire commissioner.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to David Cunningham, of Aiken County.
