A HOUSE RESOLUTION

RECOGNIZING THE REVEREND DONALD PAUL DAVIS ON HIS THIRTY YEARS AS PASTOR OF TRINITY BAPTIST CHURCH IN CAYCE AND EXPRESSING THE GRATITUDE OF THIS STATE FOR HIS VITAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE ENHANCEMENT OF THE SPIRITUAL AND PHYSICAL WELL-BEING OF ITS CITIZENS.

Whereas, The Reverend Donald Paul Davis was called to serve as the inaugural pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Cayce thirty years ago; and

Whereas, this Chester County native and graduate of Furman University in Greenville returned to South Carolina after graduating from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary to begin his service to God; and

Whereas, the former Associate Pastor of First Baptist Church in Columbia and Pastor of First Baptist Church in Kershaw answered the prayers of a small group of dedicated believers who sought to establish a new and vibrant congregation in Cayce; and

Whereas, Trinity Baptist Church has increased its membership more than five times since those early days and those members have been led to outreach activities in this community and State, our nation and world, touching the spiritual and physical lives of thousands more; and

Whereas, Trinity's mission efforts include the establishment of Community Vision Ministries, with missions to Romania, Czech Republic, Kenya, Haiti, and West Virginia, a local mission program known as the Jerusalem Project, renovation of a condemned building for missionary housing and community outreach in West Virginia, a community outreach program at a mobile home park in Lexington County, delivery of meals to two hundred seventy-seven community municipal workers once a quarter, and gifts of appreciation to school district employees and Christmas gifts to one thousand needy area children; and

Whereas, his three decades of dynamic leadership and spiritual guidance have resulted in the presence of a vital and vibrant institution in the Midlands of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize the Reverend Donald Paul Davis on his thirty years as Pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Cayce and express the gratitude of this State for his vital contributions to the enhancement of the spiritual and physical well-being of its citizens.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Reverend Donald Paul Davis.
