A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE MRS. LISA SWICK OF CHAPIN FOR HER SELECTION AS "MRS. SOUTH CAROLINA AMERICA 2004" DURING THE LEGISLATIVE INTERIM AND TO COMMEND HER FOR THE MANNER IN WHICH SHE HAS REPRESENTED SOUTH CAROLINA AND PROMOTED FAMILY VALUES DURING HER REIGN.

Whereas, Lisa Swick, Mrs. South Carolina America 2004, represents the married women of our great State. She won her title on June 26, 2004, in a statewide competition held at the Opera House in Newberry. In addition, she was selected by her fellow contestants as Mrs. Congeniality; and

Whereas, in September 2004, Lisa competed in the nationally televised Mrs. America pageant in Palm Springs, California, in which her state costume of yellow jessamine won a national award. She also competed in personal interviews with celebrity judges, evening gown, and swimsuit competitions; and

Whereas, during her reign, she has represented South Carolina in numerous festivals, parades, and as a speaker to various groups and civic organizations promoting her platform of "Traditional Family Values". She has also traveled to Washington, D.C., to participate in discussions with members of Congress concerning family values issues; and

Whereas, Lisa is a member of Mothers Association of Chapin (MAC) and is active in Relay for Life and involved in many church activities; and

Whereas, Lisa resides in Chapin with her husband Jim, and their two wonderful children, Blake and Alyssa; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and honor this truly lovely and capable lady for her contributions to her community, State, and nation as the reigning "Mrs. South Carolina America 2004". Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly congratulate Mrs. Lisa Swick of Chapin for her selection as "Mrs. South Carolina America 2004" during the legislative interim and commend her for the manner in which she has represented South Carolina and promoted family values during her reign.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Lisa Swick.
