TO CONGRATULATE AND RECOGNIZE THE HONORABLE THOMAS ADAMS BABB OF LAURENS COUNTY, ONE OF SOUTH CAROLINA'S MOST DISTINGUISHED CITIZENS AS HE CELEBRATES HIS NINETIETH BIRTHDAY, AND FOR HIS OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS AND ACHIEVEMENTS.
Whereas, the Honorable Thomas Adams Babb was born on May 14, 1915 in Laurens County, the son of R. E. and Donie (Adams) Babb; and
Whereas, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Citadel in 1936 and a Bachelor of Legal Letters from the University of South Carolina in 1939; and
Whereas, he had a distinguished career as a member of the United States Air Force from 1942 to 1945; and
Whereas, he served in the South Carolina House of Representatives in 1953 and 1954; and
Whereas, throughout his lifetime, Representative Babb has been deeply involved in the affairs of Laurens County and the State of South Carolina, serving in various leadership positions including: Laurens County Attorney, serving as chairman of the Laurens County Chapter of the American Red Cross; Trustee of South Carolina State A & M College; member, House of Delegates of the South Carolina Bar Association; President of the Laurens County Bar Association; Special Judge for Civil and Family Court of Laurens County; Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the First United Methodist Church; and a member of the Laurens County Community Theater; and
Whereas, the Honorable Thomas Adams Babb, an outstanding citizen and attorney, has been an asset to Laurens County, the Palmetto State, and this nation, and the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are delighted to have the opportunity to recognize him on his ninetieth birthday. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate and recognize the Honorable Thomas Adams Babb of Laurens County, one of South Carolina's most distinguished citizens, as he celebrates his ninetieth birthday, and for his outstanding contributions and achievements.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Honorable Thomas Adams Babb.
