VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE BLUECROSS BLUESHIELD OF SOUTH CAROLINA ON BEING NAMED 2005 CORPORATE CITIZEN OF THE YEAR BY CENTRAL SOUTH CAROLINA HABITAT FOR HUMANITY.
Whereas, since 1985, Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity has helped more than one hundred seventy families fulfill their dream of home ownership in Richland and Lexington Counties; and
Whereas, through pairing volunteer labor with financial and material donations, the organization builds affordable housing for low income families while fostering a sense of self reliance and success; and
Whereas, since 1993, BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina has donated more than two hundred fifty thousand dollars to Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity while its employees have participated in the building of five houses; and
Whereas, BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina's association with Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity began more than a decade ago when Mr. M. Edward Sellers, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer for BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina donated five thousand dollars to the organization on behalf of the company; and
Whereas, over the years the company has also funded houses in Florence and Myrtle Beach; and
Whereas, for its commitment to the goals and vision of Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity, the members of the General Assembly were pleased to learn that BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina has been chosen as its 2005 Corporate Citizen of the Year; and
Whereas, it is fitting and proper for the members of the General Assembly to pause in their deliberations to recognize BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina on receiving this honor. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, commend and congratulate BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina on being named 2005 Corporate Citizen of the Year by Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. M. Edward Sellers, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina.
