A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND SOUTH CAROLINA'S FFA MEMBERS (FORMERLY KNOWN AS THE FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA) AND ALL WHO SUPPORT, PROMOTE, AND ENCOURAGE THESE OUTSTANDING STUDENTS OF AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION AND TO JOIN THEM IN OBSERVANCE OF NATIONAL FFA WEEK, FEBRUARY 19-26, 2006.

Whereas, the FFA is a national organization of four hundred ninety-two thousand students of agricultural education in secondary schools, technical colleges, and universities with chapters in all fifty states, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands; and

Whereas, more than seventy-five percent of FFA members enroll in institutions of higher learning upon graduation from high school in preparation for one of the more than three hundred career opportunities available in the science, business, or technology of agriculture; and

Whereas, South Carolina's FFA members are recognized nationally for their quality agricultural training, leadership abilities, academic achievements, and community service; and

Whereas, South Carolina's agricultural educators are known and respected throughout the nation for their exemplary leadership in planning and implementing superb programs on behalf of FFA members; and

Whereas, the FFA organization is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of its members by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize and commend South Carolina's FFA members (formerly known as the Future Farmers of America) and all who support, promote, and encourage these outstanding students of agricultural education and join them in observance of National FFA Week, February 19-26, 2006.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the appropriate FFA officials in South Carolina.
