A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE TAYLOR LEIGH MORRIS OF SPARTANBURG COUNTY FOR HER OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO HER SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY AND TO WISH HER THE BEST IN ALL FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, it is with great pride that the General Assembly recognizes South Carolina youth who excel both in the classroom and outside of it, and who have exhibited a lasting commitment to their individual communities at young ages; and

Whereas, Taylor Leigh Morris is certainly one such individual, having already accomplished many great goals in her nine short years; and

Whereas, an honor student at Spartanburg Christian Academy, Taylor has been on the Honor Roll for the past five years, a Spelling Bee finalist for two years, and was on the Governor's Reading Honor Roll for four years, among other academic honors; and

Whereas, active in community volunteerism, Taylor founded "Kids with Purpose" with her sister to explore opportunities for community service. She also delivers meals to the elderly with the Meals-on-Wheels program and participates in Operation Christmas Child; and

Whereas, a competitive dancer and student at StarMaker's Dance Company, she has performed in ten events and received thirty-two medals for achievement. She has taken clogging lessons for four years, jazz and hip hop for one year, and tap and ballet for three years; and

Whereas, Taylor is also both a gifted athlete and artist, participating in Upward Soccer, Basketball, and Cheerleading for the past three years, and having her drawings featured in the children's devotional book, God Please Tell Me a Story: A Child's Time with God; and

Whereas, awarded for her beauty, talent, and poise, Taylor is the reigning Miss South Carolina Junior Division Pre-Teen America, and will represent South Carolina at the Pre-Teen National Competition in Birmingham, Alabama on July 2-7, 2006; and

Whereas, committed to her faith, Taylor shares her artistic flair with other congregants in church drama productions and choir musicals and participates in the AWANA program, where she memorized over 800 Bible verses; and

Whereas, the General Assembly takes great delight in the life and accomplishment of nine-year-old Taylor Leigh Morris, and only expects to hear of future success in the years to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, honor and recognize Taylor Leigh Morris of Spartanburg County for her outstanding contributions to her school and community, and wish her the best in all future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Taylor Leigh Morris.
