A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 56-1-2100, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE ISSUANCE OF COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSES BY THE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES, SO AS TO ESTABLISH A "Y" ENDORSEMENT FOR A COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE THAT AUTHORIZES THE DRIVER TO OPERATE CERTAIN SCHOOL BUSES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 56-1-2100(B)(2) of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 42 of 2005, is further amended by adding at the end:

"(g)    'Y' authorizes the person to drive school buses that are owned by this State, a local school agency, or a private contractor that transport public school children."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
