A HOUSE RESOLUTION

EXTENDING THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO MR. AND MRS. ORRIS F. BICKLEY OF IRMO ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR FIFTIETH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY AND WISHING FOR THEM MANY MORE YEARS OF HAPPINESS AND GOOD HEALTH.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives take particular pleasure in noting that Mr. and Mrs. Orris F. Bickley of Irmo on May 5, 2006 will have been married for fifty years; and

Whereas, this milestone in the lives of Orris and Joan Bickley is a tribute to their devotion to each other, a devotion that has more than merely endured, but which in fact, has grown over the decades; and

Whereas, they take enormous pleasure in the success of their two children, son, Wes and daughter, Cathy, and special delight in their three grandchildren, Brandon, Courtney, and Harrison; and

Whereas, Orris Bickley is a retired employee of General Electric/Phillips Components and Joan Bickley is a retired employee of Richland-Lexington School District Five. They are also active members of the Union United Methodist Church in Irmo; and

Whereas, in a world in which an ever increasing pace of change sometimes seems to be the only constant, it is truly refreshing to be able to recognize and join in the celebration of a couple whose lives, devotion to each other and family, and work are examples of that which is the best in our society; and

Whereas, it is appropriate for members of the House of Representatives to pause in their deliberations so they may congratulate and honor this wonderful couple on the occasion of their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That by this resolution, the members of the House of Representatives extend their warmest congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Orris F. Bickley of Irmo, on the occasion of their fiftieth wedding anniversary and extend to them their best wishes for many more years of happiness and good health.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. and Mrs. Bickley.
