Whereas, the West Ashley Wildcats, with their toughness, poise and determination, experienced great success throughout the entire regular season, only losing four matches along the way, and capped off their unbelievable year by marching through the playoffs unblemished to capture the State AAAA Volleyball Championship Title; and
Whereas, West Ashley did not lose a single set throughout the playoffs, defeating Beaufort, Ridge View, Hilton Head, and James Island each at the score of 3-0, until overcoming Dorman High School 3-2 in the State Finals to be crowned the 2005 State Champions; and
Whereas, Region Seven Coach of the Year Christy Jickling and her staff guided the young Wildcats, who were led by only three seniors including Nicole Seyle, Katie Wilson, and Senior All-Star Selection Wren Metts, to a sensational 30-4 record; and
Whereas, Junior Captain Callie Vance was one of three Wildcat players selected for the All-Region Seven Team. Juniors Erin Kennedy and Jordan Kennedy were selected to the All-Region Seven Team and the All-State Team; and
Whereas, the rest of the team included Juniors Catelyn Amende, Audrey Butz, Sarah Christenberry, Elizabeth Whiteman, Amy Whitt, Sharonda Wine, and Sophomore Lauren Bass; and
Whereas, the West Ashley Wildcats Volleyball Team did not only excel on the court but in the classroom as well, for the team compiled an astonishing 3.678 average GPA; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly take pride in recognizing the young ladies of the 2005 West Ashley Wildcats Volleyball Team for their many accomplishments and in honoring them as outstanding student athletes for all of their hard work and preparations on and off the court.
