A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO REQUEST THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION NAME THE PORTION OF HIGHWAY 139 IN HORRY COUNTY FROM ITS INTERSECTION WITH UNITED STATES HIGHWAY 701 IN THE TOWN OF LORIS TO ITS INTERSECTION WITH CANE BRANCH ROAD IN THE CITY OF CONWAY THE "AUSTIN M. ENZOR MEMORIAL HIGHWAY" AND TO ERECT APPROPRIATE MARKERS OR SIGNS ALONG THIS HIGHWAY THAT CONTAIN THE WORDS "AUSTIN M. ENZOR MEMORIAL HIGHWAY".

Amend Title To Conform

Whereas, roads and bridges throughout the County of Horry and the State of South Carolina have been named in honor of distinguished citizens who have given of both their time and efforts to improve upon this great State of South Carolina; and

Whereas, Austin M. Enzor born on June 14, 1984, made an immeasurable impact on the lives of so many he touched during his life of only twenty-one years, which ended on February 10, 2006; and

Whereas, he was a boy scout and avid outdoorsman for many years; and

Whereas, Austin played football for Conway High School and subsequently graduated from Conway High School in the year 2002; and

Whereas, he was attending Horry-Georgetown Technical College pursuing his degree in engineering upon his untimely death; and

Whereas, Austin made a valuable contribution to this State, its citizens, and his co-workers as an employee of the South Carolina Department of Transportation; and

Whereas, during his life he gave selflessly to those around him, brought joy to all that knew him, and led a life of honor and integrity; and

Whereas, it is fitting and proper for the members of the General Assembly to honor the memory of this son of South Carolina with a road in his native County of Horry that bears his name. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, request that the Department of Transportation name the portion of Highway S26-139 (Cane Branch Road) in Horry County from its intersection with S26-19 to its intersection with S26-97 (Adrian Highway) the "Austin M. Enzor Memorial Highway" and to erect appropriate markers or signs along this highway that contain the words "Austin M. Enzor Memorial Highway."

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Department of Transportation.
