A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR PASTOR EDDIE W. DAVIS OF RICHLAND COUNTY FOR HIS OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE LIVES OF HIS CONGREGANTS AND CHURCH COMMUNITY UPON THE TWENTY-THIRD ANNIVERSARY OF HIS LEADERSHIP OF LITTLE ZION BAPTIST CHURCH.

Whereas, the eleventh of thirteen children born to Deacon Jerry Davis, Sr., and Annis Canty Davis, Pastor Eddie W. Davis has

touched the lives of many with his extraordinary faith and commitment to the growth of his church and its people; and

Whereas, a devoted husband and family man, Pastor Davis celebrates a loving marriage with his wife, Shirley, and adores his three children: Eric, Kimberly, and Trent; and his two grandsons: Ezra and Elias; and

Whereas, a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and former member of the South Carolina National Guard, he received his Bachelor of Theology Degree from Morris College and has done further theological study at Columbia International University; and

Whereas, in 1983, Pastor Davis became the fifth pastor in the 174-year history of the congregation of Little Zion Baptist Church, bringing with him extraordinary vision and a committed determination to walk by faith, following the lead of the Holy Spirit; and

Whereas, leading with great honor and integrity, Pastor Davis inspires his congregants with his passion for preaching and teaching, and has lifted the spiritual growth of the congregation, as well as the physical growth of the church into its present sanctuary, other buildings including the Little Zion Christian Academy, and a cemetery site; and

Whereas, constantly mindful of the furtherance of his church, Pastor Davis has seen the licensing of five ministers, including his son Eric, under his pastorate, and under his care nine deacons have been ordained. He also has led the charge for greater evangelism from church leaders and members, creating a series of evangelism classes with over 70 members in attendance; and

Whereas, a visionary who believes in reaching out to the community, Pastor Davis has stirred interest in a community development project that will include the building of a family life center to benefit the greater community. He also is the co-founder and co-owner of three nonprofit organizations: Our Daily Bread Human Resource Center, Alternative USA, and Beyond the Door; and

Whereas, Pastor Davis has made an indelible impact on the spiritual and personal lives of everyone with whom he comes into contact, and Little Zion Baptist Church looks with great anticipation to further growth under his leadership. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives recognize and honor Pastor Eddie W. Davis of Richland County for his outstanding contributions to the lives of his congregants and church community upon the twenty-third anniversary of his leadership of Little Zion Baptist Church.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Pastor Eddie W. Davis.
