VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE THE HEMINGWAY HIGH SCHOOL BOYS JUNIOR VARSITY BASKETBALL TEAM OF WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY ON CAPTURING THE REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO HONOR THE PLAYERS AND COACH PERRY MCCARTY ON AN IMPRESSIVE SEASON.
Whereas, it is with great pleasure that the members of the House of Representatives recognize the athletic accomplishments of South Carolina's youth; and
Whereas, the junior varsity basketball players, coaches, and Principal Grady Richardson of Hemingway High School are certainly deserving of this special recognition following the 2006 basketball season; and
Whereas, Coach Perry McCarty distilled into each one of the players the fundamentals of basketball and the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship while striving to achieve a common goal; and
Whereas, the young junior varsity players responded by compiling a near flawless 14-1 overall record including going 10-0 in their region and claiming the Regional Championship Title for Hemingway High School; and
Whereas, the Mighty Tigers picked up big wins over a number of solid basketball teams including: Kingstree, C.E. Murray, Carvers Bay, Creek Bridge, Green Sea-Floyds, Johnsonville, Lake View, and Latta High Schools; and
Whereas, their roster was filled out by sixteen talented young men including: Kendrick Bell, Kwashay Bell, Joe Blow, Tashan Fredrick, Johnny Gibbons, Charles Gibson, Jerome Green, Jonathan Hewitt, Kennyatta Johnson, T. J. Jones, C. J. Julius, Antonio Nesmith, Dominic Samuel, Marcelius Thomas, Denzell Wedgeworth, and Kadeem Williams; and
Whereas, the House of Representatives takes great pride in recognizing the outstanding athletic accomplishments of the young men of the Hemingway High School Boys Junior Varsity Basketball Team, congratulating them on a terrific season, and in honoring them as tremendous model-student athletes who demonstrate the rewards of hard work on and off the court. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the Hemingway High School Boys Junior Varsity Basketball Team of Williamsburg County on capturing the Regional Championship Title and honor the players and Coach Perry McCarty on an impressive season.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the players, coaches, and school officials of the Hemingway High School Boys Junior Varsity Basketball Team of Williamsburg County.
