A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE HEMINGWAY HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS' JUNIOR VARSITY BASKETBALL TEAM OF WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY FOR AN IMPRESSIVE SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, AND TO RECOGNIZE THE EXCEPTIONAL COACHING OF COACH CHAKARIS P. THOMAS.

Whereas, the young ladies of the Hemingway High School Junior Varsity Basketball team displayed talent, grace, and integrity during the 2005-06 season; and

Whereas, the Lady Tigers compiled a remarkable 11-4 record overall and an incredible 9-1 mark in regional play and capped off the season by being crowned regional champions; and

Whereas, this championship adds to the total for Coach Chakaris P. Thomas, who has now won several regional championships; and

Whereas, Coach Thomas along with Assistant Coach Venus T. Singletary instilled into each one of their players the fundamentals of basketball and the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship; and

Whereas, Principal Grady Richardson, Assistant Principals Brian McKnight and Erica Barcus, and the entire faculty and administration are most pleased to see the Lady Tigers succeed on the basketball court and bring home a championship; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives takes great pride in recognizing the young ladies of the Hemingway High School Girls' Junior Varsity Basketball Team on an outstanding season and honoring them as model student athletes who demonstrate the possibilities of hard work and determination on and off the court. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the Hemingway High School Girls' Junior Varsity Basketball Team of Williamsburg County for an impressive season and for winning the Regional Championship, and recognize the exceptional coaching of Coach Chakaris P. Thomas.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the players, coaches, and school officials of the Hemingway High School Girls' Junior Varsity Basketball Team.
