A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE SERGEANT AMY STANLEY PROCK UPON BEING NAMED ROTARY CLUB OF MYRTLE BEACH OFFICER JOE McGARRY MEMORIAL POLICE OFFICER OF THE YEAR FOR 2005 AND TO COMMEND HER FOR HER OUTSTANDING SERVICE AS A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER AND AN ASSET TO HER COMMUNITY AND STATE.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are pleased to learn that Sergeant Amy Stanley Prock has been named Rotary Club of Myrtle Beach Officer Joe McGarry Memorial Police Officer of the Year for 2005; and

Whereas, the award recognizes the outstanding performance of a police officer, honoring the memory of the courage and dedication of the late Officer Joe McGarry who was killed in the line of duty December 29, 2002; and

Whereas, Amy Stanley Prock is the daughter of Carlton and the late Jean Stanley of Virginia, Sergeant Prock is married to Investigator Matthew Prock, also of the Myrtle Beach Police Department, and is the mother of ten-month-old Candace; and

Whereas, following graduation from Hayfield High School in Alexandria, Virginia; Sergeant Prock attended Radford University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice, and Francis Marion University, where she received a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology; and

Whereas, Sergeant Prock has worked in several divisions within the Myrtle Beach Police Department, including Patrol Officer, Crime Prevention/Crime Analyst Officer, Narcotics and Vice Supervisor, and Street Crime Unit Supervisor; she also serves as a negotiator on the Critical Incident Negotiation Team; and

Whereas, known for her professionalism, integrity, and strong work ethic, Sergeant Prock has been instrumental in conducting highly complex nuisance abatement investigations and narcotics and vice related investigations; and

Whereas, she also has a strong background in analysis and is well-versed on community policing and problem-solving policing philosophies and she can put her experiences, ideas and plans into action with outstanding results; and

Whereas, it is obvious that Amy Prock has a strong commitment and a genuine love for her career and is dedicated to making Myrtle Beach a safe and secure community; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives would like to publicly recognize and commend this outstanding officer upon her receipt of this truly deserved award. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate Sergeant Amy Stanley Prock upon being named Rotary Club of Myrtle Beach Officer Joe McGarry Memorial Police Officer of the Year for 2005 and commend her for her outstanding service as a law enforcement officer and an asset to her community and State.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Sergeant Amy Stanley Prock.
