A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE JAMES "JIMMY" GRANT, OF RICHLAND COUNTY, FOR OBTAINING THE ELITE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT WITH THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES TO HIM IN ALL OF HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout is a tremendous honor that very few Boy Scouts ever achieve, and it is recognized as one of the most prestigious awards that a young man can earn; and

Whereas, on February 14, 2006, James "Jimmy" Grant of Richland County, a member of Boy Scout Troop 224, was awarded the coveted Eagle Scout Badge, the highest award in scouting; and

Whereas, to attain the rank of Eagle Scout, each scout must organize a service project in his community, and Jimmy chose as his project to build a bridge on a hiking trail at Sesquicentennial Park, to make improvements to the trail, and to place markers on the trail to make its path clear; and

Whereas, Jimmy obtained funding from donations for the development and refurbishment of this area in the park, and his commitment and leadership with this project were recognized as fulfilling the leadership requirements and community involvement worthy of the Eagle Scout badge; and

Whereas, Jimmy's Eagle Scout project is a lasting tribute to his dedication and love of scouting and will benefit hikers at Sesquicentennial Park for many years to come; and

Whereas, Jimmy Grant is an excellent example of living the Scout Oath, a well-rounded student, and is a role model in his community; and

Whereas, the General Assembly is pleased to have the opportunity to recognize such an outstanding young man as James "Jimmy" Grant. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate James "Jimmy" Grant of Richland County for obtaining the elite rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America and extend best wishes to him in all of his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to James "Jimmy" Grant of Richland County.
