VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
COMMENDING DORCHESTER COUNTY'S PINEWOOD PREPARATORY SCHOOL GOLFERS ON THEIR 2006 SCISA AAA CHAMPIONSHIP AND GOLF COACH GREG BAECHTLE AND HIS STAFF FOR THEIR 31-4 SEASON MARK.
Whereas, the game of golf, probably more than any other sport, rewards the traits of steadiness and consistency; and
Whereas, Dorchester County's Pinewood Preparatory School golf team demonstrated both those virtues, as well as talent and skill, in capturing its first SCISA AAA State Championship, four local tournament crowns, and a 31-4 season record; and
Whereas, the Pinewood team's low score out of the 3A field was 608 for two rounds, and came in an exciting comeback on the final nine holes to make up a four-shot deficit and win by a three-shot margin; and
Whereas, that sterling finish was assisted by the Individual Championship play of eighth grader Austin Cody and the continued steady play of school record low scorer Kamito Hirai, and Panthers Matt Schneider and Nash Welch; and
Whereas, the highly successful Panther team also includes John Foster, Lushen Evans, Seth Davis, Johnson Tapp, and Christina Foster; and
Whereas, head coach Greg Baechtle and his staff, William McCarthy and Tom McGinnis, received championship efforts from the Panthers at the new venue for the state championships, the Country Club of Orangeburg; and
Whereas, while many of the golfers found the new course too challenging, Coach Baechtle's team called upon the vital fundamentals he touted and the dedicated practice he required to continue its championship form to take the exciting state title. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives commend Dorchester County's Pinewood Preparatory School golfers on their 2006 SCISA AAA Championship and golf coach Greg Baechtle and his staff for their 31-4 season mark.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Greg Baechtle, head coach of Pinewood Preparatory School golf team.
