VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO ENCOURAGE THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO SEE TO THE ENFORCEMENT OF THE EXISTING LAWS IN THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA.
Whereas, legislators serving in both the House of Representatives and the Senate voluntarily undertake the enormous responsibility of drafting and passing law that affects the daily lives of all South Carolinians; and
Whereas, the General Assembly spends countless hours in committee meetings and in floor debates discussing what is best for our beloved State, carefully crafting laws that promote order and wellbeing among citizens; and
Whereas, caught up in the fervor of creating new laws, legislators sometimes lose sight of their responsibility to see that existing laws are adequately funded so they may be properly enforced; and
Whereas, burdens on our local community officials and statewide leadership alike would be greatly eased if the State's current laws were properly carried out; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly should pause to reflect on the obligations they strive to honor and should devote greater attention to assuring that the laws they have so laboriously worked to enact benefit the citizens they are designed to protect. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, encourage the South Carolina General Assembly to see to the enforcement of the existing laws in the South Carolina Code of Laws of South Carolina.
