A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE SPRINGFIELD PLACE RETIREMENT COMMUNITY FOR ITS CONTRIBUTIONS TO NEWBERRY COUNTY AND TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE IMPORTANCE OF FACILTIES SUCH AS SPRINGFIELD PLACE TO THE CITIZENS OF SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, retirement communities provide a vital service in many communities throughout South Carolina, giving senior adults independent and assisted living care; and

Whereas, Springfield Place Retirement Community is the only facility in the County of Newberry licensed to provide senior adults with continuity of residential services on levels ranging from independent living, assisted living, and also the highest level of intensive comprehensive care by skilled nursing; and

Whereas, Springfield Place Retirement Community is the only county owned facility of its kind in the State of South Carolina; and

Whereas, this facility strives to provide a large variety of programs, both informative and entertaining, to its residents as well as to the general public; and

Whereas, Springfield Place is committed to ensuring that its residents enjoy the highest quality of life possible and because of this and the important contribution it provides to the residents of Newberry County, May 21, 2005 has been proclaimed "Springfield Place Day" in Newberry, South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly recognize Springfield Place Retirement Community for its contributions to Newberry County and to acknowledge the importance of facilities such as Springfield Place to the citizens of South Carolina.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Springfield Place Retirement Community in Newberry County.
