TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE ON THE DEATH OF E. ROGER IPOCK OF MANNING, AND TO EXTEND THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are deeply saddened to learn of the death of E. Roger Ipock of Manning at the age of seventy-eight, on October 22, 2004; and
Whereas, Mr. Ipock was the beloved husband of Mary Alice Turner Ipock and the proud father of a son, David R. Ipock (wife Debbie) of Charlotte, North Carolina, and three daughters, Lynn Pope (husband Jim) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Karen Hodgin (husband Tim) of Los Angeles, California, and Lisa Roland (husband Kyle) of Wagener. He was also happy to boast four grandchildren; and
Whereas, born in Vanceboro, North Carolina, E. Roger Ipock was a son of the late Charlie Lee and Mary Ethel Smith Ipock; and
Whereas, he graduated from North Carolina State University with honors, an excellent background that prepared him for a career with Progress Energy where he retired as an area manager; and
Whereas, he was a much admired member of the community who bravely served his country in the Army during World War II and worked to strengthen his local region through extensive civic contributions; and
Whereas, Mr. Ipock was a member of the Manning Rotary Club, a member of the Manning Mullet Club, Chairman of the Committee of 100, a member of the Retiree Committee of the Manning Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Santee-Wateree Mental Health Board of Directors for twenty-six years, and a member of the Manning Municipal Election Committee; and
Whereas, he was a faithful member and past Deacon of the Manning First Baptist Church, where he taught the P.T. Bradham Sunday School Class; and
Whereas, Mr. Ipock is also survived by two sisters, Edith Cox of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Lila Cleve of Vanceboro, North Carolina; and
Whereas, Mr. E. Roger Ipock earned the respect and admiration of all who knew and loved him, and the South Carolina Senate is proud to honor the many contributions that he made to his community, State, and nation. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate hereby express their profound sorrow on the death of E. Roger Ipock of Manning and extend their deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Mary Alice Turner Ipock of Manning.
