TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-101-425 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT CERTAIN FOUR-YEAR STATE INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING SHALL DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT A MECHANISM FOR EVALUATING THE COMPETENCY LEVEL OF CERTAIN STUDENTS FOR APPROPRIATE PLACEMENT IN THE EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION FOUR-YEAR COURSE OF STUDY.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Article 1, Chapter 101, Title 59 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 59-101-425. A four-year state institution of higher learning that accepts students with an associate degree in early childhood education for work toward a four-year degree in early childhood education shall develop and implement a mechanism for evaluating the competency level of the students for appropriate placement in the four-year course of study."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
