TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-101-430 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT EACH STATE COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY SHALL PROVIDE A MONTHLY STIPEND TO FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL PLAYERS DURING THEIR RESPECTIVE SEASONS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Article 1, Chapter 101, Title 59 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 59-101-430. Each state college or university shall provide a stipend of three hundred fifty dollars per month to football and basketball players during each month of their respective seasons."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor beginning with school year 2005-06.
