A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 56-3-2330, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE ISSUANCE OF MOTOR VEHICLE MANUFACTURER LICENSE PLATES BY THE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES, SO AS TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF LICENSE PLATES THAT THE DEPARTMENT MAY ISSUE TO A MOTOR VEHICLE MANUFACTURER.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 56-3-2330(A) of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"(A)    Upon application and payment of the required fee, the Department of Motor Vehicles may issue no not more than two four hundred manufacturer license plates to a motor vehicle manufacturer. The license plates must be used exclusively on motor vehicles, including motorcycles, owned or in the possession of a manufacturer. Manufacturer license plates must not be used to operate wreckers in use by the manufacturer nor to operate vehicles leased or rented to the public by the manufacturer."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
