TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR CLAUDE "JACK" CARTEE OF ANDERSON COUNTY FOR HIS HARD WORK AND DEDICATION RAISING MONEY AND SUPPORTING THE SHRINERS HOSPITALS FOR CHILDREN DURING HIS FORTY-FIVE YEARS OF SERVICE AS A DEVOTED SHRINER.
Whereas, it is appropriate for the South Carolina House of Representatives to single out for public recognition those South Carolinians who give so unselfishly of their time, talents, and energy for the benefit of children in need in particular; and
Whereas, Claude "Jack" Cartee of Anderson County is one such South Carolinian deserving of such special recognition. As a Shriner for the past forty-five years, he has volunteered countless hours to carry out the philanthropy of the Shriners bringing hope and peace to children in need of medical services provided by the Shriners Hospitals for Children; and
Whereas, the Shriners Hospitals for Children is a network of pediatric specialty hospitals, founded by the Shrine, where children under the age of 18 receive excellent medical care absolutely free of charge. There are eighteen orthopaedic Shriners Hospitals, three Shriners Hospitals dedicated to treating children with severe burns, and one Shriners Hospital that provides orthopaedic, burn, and spinal cord injury care; and
Whereas, Mr. Cartee's very nature is one of public service. He is a member of the Provost Guard Unit, the Hejaz Red Fez Club, and the Firemen's Unit. He has also served on the Finance Committee and the Executive Committee of the Hejaz Temple; and
Whereas, a master fundraiser, he has supported all the fundraising for the Firemen's Unit, the Red Fez Club, the Hejaz Temple, and the Shriners Hospitals for Children for many years; and
Whereas, Mr. Cartee also tirelessly works to recruit new Shriners, helps children get into the Shriners Hospitals for Children, gives generously to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, and pays his own way to meetings never accepting reimbursement; and
Whereas, this bighearted and kind gentleman has earned 152,697 points for his "Crown of Honor" - each point more deserved than the last; and
Whereas, Mr. Cartee is also the loving husband of wife, Grace, and together they have two wonderful children of whom they are very proud: Teresa and Tony; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives take great pleasure in pausing to acknowledge the many and varied contributions that Mr. Cartee has made over the past forty-five years as a Shriner. Never one to seek recognition for himself, his devotion and numerous benevolent acts for the benefit of children in need set an example for all South Carolinians. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor Claude "Jack" Cartee of Anderson County for his hard work and dedication raising money and supporting the Shriners Hospitals for Children during his forty-five years of service as a devoted Shriner.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Claude "Jack" Cartee of Anderson County.
