A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND DR. BILLY CARSON BLAKENEY OF PAGELAND FOR HIS DISTINGUISHED THIRTY-EIGHT YEAR CAREER IN SERVING THE PATIENTS OF PAGELAND, CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, AND THE SURROUNDING AREAS AND FOR HIS CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CIVIC LIFE OF HIS COMMUNITY.

Whereas, Dr. Billy Carson Blakeney has been an integral part of the Pageland community since beginning his medical practice in Pageland in 1968; and

Whereas, in the thirty-eight years Dr. Blakeney has practiced medicine in Pageland, he has earned the affection and respect of his patients from all over Chesterfield and surrounding counties not only for his professional competence but for his warm and friendly demeanor that has endeared him to his patients; and

Whereas, he was born in Pageland, graduated from Clemson with a degree in civil engineering in 1957, graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Masters of Science in Sanitary Engineering in 1958, worked as an engineer with the North Carolina State Board of Health in Charlotte from 1958 to 1963, and graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1967; and

Whereas, in addition to his medical practice, Dr. Blakeney is a civic and community leader in Pageland and Chesterfield County having served on the Chesterfield County Board of Education, is a member of the American Legion, and currently is a deacon and formerly as a chairman of the deacons of the Pageland First Baptist Church; and

Whereas, he is a devoted husband to his lovely wife, the former Pat Griggs, also of Pageland, and they are blessed with three wonderful daughters and six delightful grandchildren; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and thank this truly wonderful man and caring physician for all he has done to make Pageland and Chesterfield County a better place to live and work. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly recognize and commend Dr. Billy Carson Blakeney of Pageland for his distinguished thirty-eight year career in serving the patients of Pageland, Chesterfield County, and the surrounding areas and for his contributions to the civic life of his community.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Billy Carson Blakeney.
